The pitch holds its worlds lightly. This page does not. The rights chain, the true story, the era bible, the archive map, every precedent that landed or backfired, the 2026 window, the commercial case, what our stack can and cannot render, and where the backlash would come from. Built so any of us can answer any question about this pitch with a date and a source.
ABG owns Ali and Champion. It does NOT own Tyson: his side is a direct license, and he is alive, at the table, and pushing.
The promise is real: the 1980 call, and Ali's documented 1988 ringside whisper, "Remember what you said, get him for me."
108M watched Tyson on Netflix in Nov 2024. Ten years since Ali's death this June; the estate's own scripted series lands Nov 4 2026.
The house has done this before: Champion × Ali "G.O.A.T.," announced Feb 2021, licensed through ABG's own Ali entity.
Fifty years of precedent says one thing: sell the argument, never the verdict. The meeting, never the match.
The pitch says one roof owns this story. Verified 2026-07-24 against primary sources: that is true for Champion and for Ali, and NOT true for Tyson. Ali clears in-house through ABG. Tyson clears through Tyson: he is alive, at the table, and papers his own deals. The concept survives intact; the paperwork map below is what makes it survive a lawyer's first question in the room.
Bought from HanesBrands: $1.2B cash plus up to $300M contingent, announced June 2024, closed Sep 30 2024. ABG owns the IP; AMG (US/Canada), GearCo under Ames Watson with Fanatics (collegiate), Falic (LatAm) and IB Group (Mexico) operate. ~$3B global retail sales. Already ran a multi-year Ali G.O.A.T. collaboration announced Feb 2021, licensed through ABG's own Ali entity: this pairing has an in-house precedent.
Muhammad Ali Enterprises, bought from CORE Media: name, likeness, the largest Ali photo library in the world, moving-image collection, and the marks (Float Like a Butterfly · Thrilla in Manila · The Greatest of All Time). Managed in partnership with the family: Lonnie Ali as trustee, with Joel Weinshanker. Enforcement is real: MAE sued Fox for $30M over a 3-minute Super Bowl promo (2017, settled 2018). Family creative approval is standard practice.
No ABG-Tyson deal exists. Checked 2026-07-24: absent from ABG's live portfolio, press archive and all trade coverage (the circa-2021 report was likely Reebok conflation). USPTO marks for MIKE TYSON sit personally with Michael Gerard Tyson; categories license deal-by-deal (Tyson 2.0 via Carma HoldCo). Note: Tyson and Ric Flair sued former Carma associates Dec 2025 for $50M+ over unauthorized sublicensing, so any license needs authority reps and chain-of-title diligence. He is alive, at the table, and pushing.
Correction to the standing internal shorthand: "ABG owns both men" is half right. Ali yes, in-house. Tyson no: his presence at this table is a relationship and a direct deal, not house ownership. The pitch page's own phrasing ("Tyson sits at the table by direct relationship") is accurate and stays.
Two lives on one axis. Ali's lane runs gold, Tyson's runs oxblood, and the record crosses them eight documented times, from a juvenile detention hall in the Bronx to a Louisville casket. Click a crossing to read the record; the full testimony with flags follows below. This is what makes the pitch a documentary claim, not an invention.
Ringside, January 22 1988, before the bell: Ali takes Tyson's hands and whispers, "Remember what you said, get him for me."
THE DOCUMENTED EXCHANGE · TYSON VS HOLMES · CONVENTION HALL, ATLANTIC CITY
Nearly every human authority leans Ali. The machine verdict went Tyson. And the two men each picked the other. The argument is genuinely unsettled, which is exactly why it still sells.
THE EXPERT RECORD IN ONE LINE · DETAILS IN THE WALL BELOW
"Sometimes when God creates individuals he is showing off, and when you see him in his prime he looks more like a model than a fighter."
TYSON ON ALI · VIRAL CLIP, 2025 REPOSTS
"Most likely I would win the fantasy, but I wouldn't win the real fight. Ali's the greatest there's ever been."
TYSON · FOX NEWS DREAM-FIGHT INTERVIEW
"I can't beat that man. Hell no. No way." He calls prime Ali "a T-Rex with a beautiful face" who beat you mentally as well as physically.
TYSON, ASKED IF HIS 20-YEAR-OLD SELF WINS · 2012
Holmes, who fought both: "Tyson would get beat up... he'd have a lot of problems getting around that jab." Dundee: Ali "would have beat everybody because we'd have found a way." Ali himself, 1997: Tyson is "too dumb" to beat me.
THE HUMAN AUTHORITIES · HOLMES, DUNDEE, ALI · ATLAS AND ROACH HAVE NO ON-RECORD PICK, DO NOT CITE
Era truth is what separates tribute from stunt (Precedent, lesson 06). These are the verified physical facts for prompt craft and QA, including corrections to details we have been assuming. Every frame we fire should be checkable against this table at 100% crop. Thumbnails are our own approved plates placed as era anchors, not archival photographs; click to enlarge.

Miami Beach, Liston I (Feb 25). CORRECTION for our fires: not plain white and black. White trunks, black waistband, thin red side stripes, "CC" monogram on the left leg, worn only this once. Liston quits on the stool before round 7. "I shook up the world."
Lewiston, the phantom punch (May 25). KO about 1:44 into round 1. The Leifer frame: white trunks, black waistband, standing over Liston, right arm cocked across the body, snarling "Get up and fight, sucker!" Dark arena, single overhead ring light.

The peak (Astrodome vs Williams, Nov 14 1966). TKO 3 before a 35,615 indoor record; the Ali Shuffle debuts; roughly 62% of power shots landed; widely called his finest technical performance. Last pre-exile bout: Folley, Mar 22 1967.
The trilogy and Zaire. Frazier: loses Mar 8 1971 at MSG, wins Jan 28 1974, wins the Thrilla in Manila TKO 14 (Oct 1 1975). Kinshasa, Oct 30 1974: Stade du 20 Mai, bell about 4am local for US closed circuit, ~60,000 in moonlight, rope-a-dope off slack ropes, Foreman KO'd in 8.

White trunks with black waistband career-long, usually Everlast on the waistband (occasionally Ampro, Spartan, Frager, Mitre, MacGregor). Motion signatures: lightning double jab, dropped hands, lean-back slips, mid-fight mouth-open taunt, the Shuffle. Robe specifics per era: UNVERIFIED, work from photo archives.
Atlanta (Jul 19). Secret final torchbearer; takes the flame from Janet Evans, left arm trembling with Parkinson's, lights the fuse rocket to the cauldron. Evans: "I never cried after any of my Olympic medals, but I wanted to cry."

Plain black trunks, black low shoes, no socks, no robe: a plain white towel with a hole cut for his head, worn poncho style (at Berbick, a hotel bath towel; he said he would pay the fine from his $1.5M purse to stay in black). Brutally short Dempsey-style haircut. The spartan black honored D'Amato, dead Nov 4 1985, a year before the crown.

Peek-a-boo, from D'Amato: gloves at the cheeks, elbows tight, constant bob-and-weave, numbered combinations, carried on under Kevin Rooney. This guard shape is the single most checkable Tyson likeness cue in motion.

No music, blank affect. Tyson: "My entrance made me feel like a warrior." For Spinks his chosen entrance sound was "just noise; every once in a while you hear the clanging of chains."
Production's map of the real pictures: who made the canon, who controls it, and how much of it already lives under the client's own roof. The short version: Getty is the single biggest door, Magnum holds Hoepker and Abbas, four estates deal direct, and MAE plus the Sports Illustrated archive make much of it in-house. Our fires synthesize era-true frames because the archive is costly per frame and closed as model input; its role is reference truth and in-campaign intercut (World II, THE VOW).
GETTY · THE MASTER DOOR. Carries Sports Illustrated (both Leifer masterpieces), the Stanley Weston Archive (~1,500 early Clay frames), The Ring magazine credit line, the Ken Regan Archive (~9,000 items) and Bettmann. Premium rights-managed campaign use starts low-to-mid five figures per image; famous frames in global campaigns reach six (ballpark UNVERIFIED).
MAGNUM · HOEPKER AND ABBAS. Thomas Hoepker's 1966 fist-to-camera and rooftop frames (Hoepker died Jul 2024; estate works through Magnum and Atlas Gallery). Abbas shot Zaire. Live proof the door works: the sacai × Ali capsule that shipped Jul 9 2026 is built on a Hoepker Magnum print.
THE ESTATES · DIRECT DEALS. Flip Schulke (1961 underwater; widow-run archive, and MAE already holds merchandise grants to selected Schulke images). Harry Benson (Beatles × Clay 1964; living, licenses himself). Howard Bingham (Ali's personal photographer, archive reported near a million frames; family estate). Gordon Parks Foundation (the LIFE essays).
IN-HOUSE · THE CLIENT'S OWN VAULT. MAE: "the world's largest library" of Ali photographs plus a moving-image collection (no numeric inventory ever published; closest proxy is Taschen's GOAT, 3,000+ images from 150+ photographers). MAE holds photographer grants (Schulke, Kalinsky, Regan). And ABG owns the Sports Illustrated brand and archive ($110M, 2019, distributed via Getty). Substantial clearance never leaves the building.

Working rule for the room: the ARCHIVE is for truth and intercut; the SYNTHESIS is for the frames history never took. Filters refuse the archive as model input anyway (Stack, section 08), which is why the pipeline was built plate-first.
Fifty-six years of legends recreated in advertising, plotted by reception. Hover any dot. The pattern is consistent enough to bet on: family in the frame, product-person truth, real bodies under digital faces, rationed voice. The full scored table follows the chart.
Laila Ali composited into restored archival footage to spar her father in his prime; companion spot put Ali leading Beckham and Zidane (22 athletes on bluescreen treadmills). Cannes Gold Lion, Silver Effie. The family-blood pairing read as tribute. The closest precedent to ours.
LANDEDPrime Ali fights prime Ali via rotoscoped doubles with head replacement. Ali personally approved the script. Adweek Ad of the Day; pulled from TV after his death out of respect.
LANDEDLiving Ali, 70, with a grandson in gloves: "Some stars show you the way." Prestige reception; proof Ali carries luxury heritage.
LANDEDDeepfake face on a body double duetting with her living daughter. 16M+ views, a 20M+ stream lift, the First Lady cried, her son endorsed it. An ethics review opened and (reportedly) archived. The parent-child reunion carried it.
LANDEDFull-CG head of young Jordan over a REAL one-on-one game with a stand-in. Beloved because a physically real game sat under the digital face.
LANDED15M YouTube views in 48 hours; awe dominated. Opened the resurrection era.
LANDEDBody double, full-CG face (double plus FACS scan), hand-animated expressions. Craft praised; a persistent "back from the dead to sell chocolate" distaste strand. Estate approved.
SPLITML face-swap on live plates plus a cloned voice, estate blessed. Clio Silver, but wide "uncanny, weird" commentary. Cloned voice plus long solo screen time is the risk zone.
SPLITNine months of face work, daughter-approved, still the backlash template: a teetotaler pitching whisky in Mandarin instead of his native Cantonese. Wrong product and wrong voice sink even family-blessed work.
BURNEDUnder 60 seconds of UNDISCLOSED AI voice; his widow publicly denied consenting. The canonical backlash case: nondisclosure and contested consent, not the technology.
BURNEDAI-era hardening 2024-2026: Alien Romulus's Ian Holm cameo drew "digital necromancy" criticism · the Carlin estate's suit over an unauthorized AI special ended in takedown · Tennessee's ELVIS Act and California AB 1836/2602 now require estate consent for digital replicas. ABG's rights satisfy the law; the public bar is consent plus disclosure plus taste.
The fight that never happened has been mass entertainment since 1970: The Super Fight filmed Ali and Marciano sparring 75 one-minute rounds, sealed a computer's verdict, and sold out theaters worldwide for one night. EA's 2009 cover vote asked the exact Ali-or-Tyson question and ended with both men on the cover.
CROSS-ERA PRECEDENT · THE ARGUMENT IS THE PRODUCT
Family in the frame, not the press release. Laila sparring her father and Maria Rita duetting her mother earned tears; Shannon Lee's off-screen approval could not save a whisky ad. Make the blessing visible inside the work.
Product-person truth is non-negotiable. Ali selling competition worked; a teetotaler selling scotch did not. Tyson and Ali in Champion greys is category-true: gym garments on gym gods.
Real bodies first, digital faces second. Every praised execution stood on archival film or real athletic performance. Pure CG performance is where "uncanny" begins. Our hybrid spine (true-face plates over era-true motion) is already this shape.
Ration the voice. Lombardi's cloned speech and Bourdain's undisclosed audio drew the harshest fire. Archival audio or silence; disclose any synthesis as part of the story.
The verdict is the content. The sealed computer decision and the cover vote prove the argument itself is the engine. Build the mechanic in: let the audience fight about it.
Craft at year scale, era accuracy absolute. Framestore, The Mill and Digital Domain treated single faces as nine-month builds. Period-correct grain, light and trunks are what separate tribute from stunt.
Four currents cross in this exact window: boxing at its widest casual reach since the 1990s, an active Ali anniversary and content cycle, Champion rebuilding on heritage under the same roof that manages Ali, and a consent framework for AI likeness this campaign satisfies cleanly. And beneath the currents, two decades of measurable public appetite for this exact pairing. Every number below is dated.
YouTube view counts read directly from platform metadata 2026-07-24; bar lengths proportional to views. Every format clears seven figures: official archive, debate, fan edits, podcast clips. FOX's two official Tyson-mimics-Ali videos alone total 32M+. Also on record: the eWBSS lockdown simulation (Fight Night Champion, streamed on WBSS Facebook, Mar 29 2020) went Tyson by 114-111 on all three cards and drew Muhammad Ali Jr's public rebuttal; r/Boxing re-runs the debate yearly. Google Trends and TikTok counters were not retrievable on the read date: gaps, not zeros.
The pitch sells frames; this section is what the frames are for. Champion has already proven once that heat converts to revenue at brand scale, the fleece market is enormous and growing, and the next twelve months hand the campaign three dated launch windows the house itself is building.

World III's frames double as the commercial exhibit: the garment is the hero, and the $75-150 slot already has its photography.
Production truths with dated receipts from this slate's own fire ledger, drawn as the pipeline actually runs. These are the walls and lanes as tested, not as assumed; every claim carries a receipt in fires.jsonl and the run log, and the two films below are the working proof.
The client composite and our approved stills. The archive is reference truth only: filters refuse famous faces as model input, so the pipeline was built to never need them as input.
OPEN · MERGE-EDIT GRAMMARgpt-image-2-edit off our own approved frames, 2K high. Likeness gate: reads as THE man at 100% crop. Expression law: references carry identity only, every prompt names its own expression.
OPEN · PAIRS + DE-AGING PASSFLAG · ALI-SOLO RESTAGINGSSeedance base films: people-free plates or era-true doubles carrying kit, guard and light. The face-reference channel is closed for the famous pair: refused at upload, $0, receipts Jul 22 and Jul 23.
CLOSED · PAIR FACE REFSTrue-face plates (2.5D push, grain-matched) cut into each base film at its emotional beats; designed audio carried untouched; xfade joins with overlap-compensated clocks. No filter can refuse an edit.
OPEN · THE DELIVERY SPINE

The plate rail above is the true-face currency the assembly spends: every frame passed the likeness gate at 100% crop. Click any plate to enlarge.
Every failure mode in the precedent record, mapped to this campaign's answer. The synthesis in one line: sell the argument, never the verdict. The Super Fight sold a verdict and the loser sued; EA sold the question and put both men on the cover. Our frames stage the meeting: the touch, never the outcome.
"Back from the dead to sell product." The Hepburn and Bruce Lee strand: even estate-approved work reads ghoulish when the person-product bond is false or the family is invisible.
Family in the frame and category truth. Lonnie Ali invited Tyson as pallbearer; Rasheda calls him family; the estate itself is shipping Ali content all Q4 2026. And the product is the garment class Champion invented, on the men who lived in it. Make the blessing visible inside the work, not the press release.
The uncanny valley. Long full-CG close-ups and synthetic performance are where praise turns to "weird" (Lombardi, most SB LX AI spots).
Real bodies first, by architecture. The hybrid spine is already this shape: true-face plates over era-true motion, assembly not generation. Era bible QA at 100% crop; period grain, trunks and light per section 03, including the corrections.
The voice. Cloned speech drew the harshest fire in the whole record (Bourdain, Lombardi), even with blessings.
Archival audio or silence. Ali's line on the pitch page is his own documented words. Any synthesis gets disclosed as part of the story; nothing is ever put in the living Tyson's mouth without his approval.
The Tyson paper gap. ABG does not own Tyson; his ecosystem has live litigation over unauthorized sublicensing (Dec 2025).
Direct written license before anything external. Authority reps, chain-of-title diligence, his approval over double, voice and script. Previs stays in the client room until that paper exists. He is alive, at the table, and pushing: the deal is a signature away, not a negotiation from zero.
Staging the bout. A declared winner between these two men angers half the audience, the family's protective line included (Rasheda on the Paul fight: "mortified").
The meeting, never the match. Every world in the pitch is a touch, a vow, a monument, a window: reverence registers. The debate stays where it belongs, in the audience. If a verdict mechanic is ever wanted, it is a vote, never a declared outcome.
Fact-check ambushes. One wrong "fact" in a launch interview (the tattoo myth, the prison-visit videos, "Rocky wore Champion") hands the press its headline.
This dossier is the ammunition control. The tattoo claim is dead (section 02), the prison visit is apocrypha (the documented mosque morning is better), the Rocky caveat is logged (section 05). Everything the room says traces to a source on this page.
The AI-ad climate. Backlash is live (Coca-Cola two years running) and the rules are moving (NO FAKES Act through committee Jun 18 2026).
Build to the consent standard now. The settled line is consent plus disclosure plus taste: this campaign has near best-case consent structure, so let the credits say how it was made and by whose blessing. Compliance today is also insurance against the federal right arriving mid-flight.
Eight research passes, grouped by section. Compiled 2026-07-24; load-bearing claims verified against two or more independent sources; anything that could not be verified is marked UNVERIFIED in its section. YouTube demand counts were read directly from platform metadata on the compile date.
